Welcome to Designs in Shell

Each of the kaleidoscopes are completely handcrafted by the artist. Each design is unique to the shell for which is chosen. All kaleidoscopes are intended for use and are designed to ensure durability.

Each eggshell is airbrushed with striking acrylic colors. Designs vary from two to four different colors, which are applied to the shell in layers. The eggshell is then dipped to a high gloss finish. This process eliminates all imperfection in its outer layer of the shell.

The completed kaleidoscope has as many as eight layers of polymer glaze on top of the colors. This process ensures that the shell is many times stronger than in its natural form.
