Artist
My Name is Frank Casciani
and have a my background in ceramics and horticulture. The mix of media
is quite intriguing since the Ideas are endless. When I started as a hobby
I was creating different types of ornaments for the holidays for my family.
As the interest and the hobby grew, I was asked if I ever sold any of my work.
I started selling my work at small craft shows here in San Diego, California.
Kaleidoscopes have always
been intriguing to me. I have always wondered how one worked and why the
image never repeated itself. I started with several designs of my ornaments
and housed the Kaleidoscope in an egg. To my surprise I was contacted at
a show to make three special gifts for a 100th Anniversary celebration
of The Cabrillo Monument. Receiving these gifts were Diplomats of Portugal,
Spain and Mexico. These gifts were presented by the Committee and were
a huge success.
As the business has grown
over the past two years I have been invited to attend Artist Signings at
several Galleries that carry my work. While in San Francisco at a gallery
signing I was demonstrating the completion of a kaleidoscope that was bought
by a very inquisitive customer. About a month after the signing I received
a photograph in the mail in which the Egg Kaleidoscope was presented to
the Dalai Lama as a personal gift.
My work is now represented
throughout Europe and Japan as well as around the United States for all
to enjoy and to be treasured.
